The most unique feature of VorEdit is the implementation of
two-window editing, which is intended to allow two ASCII text
files to be compared and the differences easily observed. VorEdit
is also useful for simple editing tasks.
This is not a free program. After a trial period, users are
required to register and to pay a license fee of $10.
In the event of an unforeseen circumstance, such as monetary
inflation, the above license fee may be increased without notice.
Future versions may also cost more. In the event of such an
increase, or if some version of a product is no longer available,
any money will be promptly refunded with an explanation.
Registered users will receive a floppy disk with the
official version of the software, a 28-page booklet-style
reference manual, technical support, new-product notices, and
low-cost upgrades. They will also receive a configuration program
which will permit a custom setup of screen colors, the DOS
command line options, margins, and other parameters.
Technical support will be extended for at least three months
from the date of registration. At least 30 minutes of telephone
support will be provided at no charge to registered users. In
general, the customer is expected to be responsible for placing
any long-distance calls. Occasionally we may not be available,
and telephone calls will be taken by an answering machine. We
want this product to be a success and will attempt to satisfy our
customers.
Copying and distribution of this program for a free trial by
others is permitted and encouraged, provided that all files are
included, complete and unchanged.
The files contained in this release are:
VOREDIT.EXE The executable program file.
VOREDIT.DOC The complete documentation for VorEdit.
UPDATE.DOC What is new in this release.
REGISTER.DOC How to register your copy of VorEdit.
VOREE.DOC What Voree is.
README.DOC This file.
Commercial sellers of floppy disks or other media containing
shareware are required to receive a special license from us for
this purpose. This requirement is not intended to prevent such
activity, nor to impose a fee, but merely to allow us to monitor
these sales, to help ensure that the latest version of our
software is being distributed, and to limit the amount customers
are charged for such media.
To run the editor, use one of the following DOS commands.
Information: VOREDIT
Normal Usage: VOREDIT filename
Text Compare: VOREDIT filename1 filename2
Options may be used anywhere on the command line, separated
by a space. Either upper or lower case is acceptable.
Option Description
+ALL Show all differences on compared lines.
+JAM Compress multiple spaces when reformatting.
-BEL Turn off the bell sound for errors.
-CLN Turn off cleanup at the end of lines.
-BAK Prevent the creation of a .BAK file.
-EOF Eliminate the end-of-file character.
+HID Make the saved file a hidden file.
For quick on-line help screens while editing, use Ctrl-J or
the F1 key.
To print the documentation with a 10-space margin, load it
into the editor with the following DOS command:
VOREDIT VOREDIT.DOC
Set the left margin with Ctrl-O-L and enter 10. Then send the
documentation to the PRN printer device with Ctrl-K-P.
VorEdit is intended to run on MDA, CGA, EGA, and VGA video
adapters. This version is limited to a screen size of 25 lines
by 80 characters per line, but this could probably be easily
modified. For speed in updating the screen, it does perform
direct writes to the video memory. If there is any problem with
"snow" while updating the screen, or any other problem with a
particular video system, we are willing to work with users to
circumvent such a problem. Please note that although VorEdit,
Version 1.0 has been used on a variety of systems, Version 1.1 is
the first public release of the editor, and the possibility of
some snag is anticipated.
Several improvements are planned for Version 1.2 of VorEdit.
VorEdit is being offered for a very low registration fee, and
registered users will be upgraded for a minimal fee. If you find
VorEdit to be useful, please do not wait to register. We need
your support to survive. Help us to work on improved software by
registering now!
